I am a jewelry designer.
I’m also a mom, which is the role that has been dominating my life for the last (almost) three years. But I am other things. And the last month or so, I’ve been able to set aside more time for myself and my passions. I’m happy to say that I’m back to designing and am so excited to announce that I have a new line of jewelry that is about to launch!
The new designs are very different from what I’ve done in the past and I hope that my customers like them as much as I do. Here’s a sneak peak of some of the earrings I’ve been working on…
I’m hoping to have them up on the website in the next couple of weeks, but I’d love to hear what you think! Please leave comments! They will be coming in 4 different sizes and 5 different colors.
My last post was for Halloween! That was eight months ago! The reason for the lag is because basically right after Halloween, Amelia started walking… then RUNNING, then getting into practically everything that I own. It’s a lot different than when I could just put her down in one place and she couldn’t get too far. Now I do a lot of chasing, but it’s a blast.
We are having a great time and in fact have moved to Italy for the next 6 months! Amelia is adjusting well and having a great time with her Nonna and Nonno. She is starting to say words and I think that before we leave in November, she will be speaking Italian! At the very least, she will be able to say, “MANGIA”!
Her first words are dog, more, apple and water. She’s also just mastering Mommy, Daddy, Nonna and Nonno. Oh, and of course she can say NO!
Here’s a photo of her exploring the mountains in Cavria (her ancestral home)…

I’m hoping to have the tutorial for this super fun DIY Halloween costume posted soon. Please check back and have a fun and SAFE Halloween!
We had our 9 1/2 month well-check today at the pediatricians office and it couldn’t have gone better! First of all, she was already caught up with her vaccines, so NO SHOTS TODAY! Well, except for a tiny flu shot which she handled very well. Her dad and I both got them as well except for instead of the shot, they gave us the “mist” (which I’d never heard of)! Apparently, they spray the live flu virus up your nose and it’s not a strong enough dose to give you the flu, but it’s enough to make your body’s defenses “remember” to fight it off if you really get exposed. Weird.
So Miss Amelia is now 18lbs. 12.5oz. which is about what we thought. She’s catching up (statistics-wise) and is now in the 50th percentile! yay! She’s 28 inches tall (55th percentile) and her head has a circumference of 45.5 inches (75th percentile).
We were also given the go-ahead to add some additional foods to her diet (the Doctor said she might be getting her first molar)!! New foods include cheerios, greek plain yogurt, cheese and some pasta or bread (in small doses). Still no dairy. And our next appointment isn’t until her first birthday!!!! I can’t believe that it’s only two months away!
Oh, and yesterday she stood up on her own and stood there for about 2-3 seconds! WOO HOO! We are predicting that she will be walking in her tenth month!
Sleeping like a champ!
It’s been pretty challenging to keep this blog updated… just seems like when Amelia is sleeping, there are so many things that NEED to get done… like catching up on reality TV 😉 I apologize. I really do.
But guess what?? My baby is 9 months old and it’s CRAZY how fast she is developing new skills! She is now cruising (walking with the assistance of coffee tables and chairs). She eats three meals a day. She’s starting to “babble” which is so adorable. “babababa” and “da” and sometimes even “ma”. Last night she slept in her own room, in her own crib, all by herself (and slept from 7:30pm until 5:20am)! And although I’m not a morning person, that’s what we call SUCCESS! I think she’s about 19 lbs. We’ll find out for sure at the Pediatricians office next week…
We just returned from our world-wind 6 week trip to Europe and I can’t believe how long it’s been and how much has changed since I last posted here! When we left, Amelia was still in the five month old “category” and now (on the 18th), she’ll be 8 months old! Here’s a breakdown of what’s new…
Amelia is now sleeping and napping in her crib (hallelujah)!
She has EIGHT teeth (she’s only bitten me a few times when she was just learning how to use them… OUCH)!
She eats 3 solid food meals per day (mostly from Plum Organics).
She sits up on her own and has just begun to think about crawling. She’s got perfect form, she just hasn’t put it in motion yet 😉
There’s a lot to tell about travelling with her. I’ll have to break it down into mini posts, but the general idea is that the plane ride wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be… but the car rides were tough! She DOES NOT LIKE HER CAR SEAT! Anyway, like I said, I’ll post more in a bit. We just graduated to somewhat normal nap times, so I actually can predict when I have time to myself.
Thanks for reading!
I’m a little late posting this (Amelia turned 5 months old on the 18th). She woke up on her birthday with her first tooth! Which explains why I haven’t had time to write… She’s been a bit (a lot) more fussy that usual. In fact, just more than a week later, she already has two teeth and I think is working on her third!
She also rolled over (from back to front) two times on her birthday but hasn’t done it again since.
We have a pediatrician appt this Thursday for her last round of shots before we leave for Italy on the 10th. Oh, and we fed her her first solid food yesterday for the first time… Avocado. She ate a little. Didn’t seem all that excited about it. Maybe she will like bananas better.
I weighed her yesterday and she’s almost 14 lbs! She is not even close to sleeping through the night (although breastfeed babies aren’t supposed to, I’m told). She wakes me up to nurse about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Ugg. I’m hoping that after we are feeding her more solids, that she will sleep longer.
Here are some photos of her recent adventures…
